Into the DAX

My college room mate is publishing his debut novel!

Check it out!  bobwelchauthor.com

In the fractured remains of North America, young bioscientist Kiley Van is hunted by the Elect, a theocratic regime bent on exploiting the earth in defiance of the changing climate that has unraveled civilization and devastated the natural world.

On the run and desperate to understand why she has been targeted, Kiley uncovers a buried family legacy—a biotechnology so powerful it could remake the world, for good or ill.

Finding refuge with the Dax people, an Earth-revering community, Kiley awakens to the Earth as a living entity—and to ancient knowledge that science has yet to divine.

Confronted with decisions of life and death, both personal and global, Kiley reluctantly becomes the face of resistance. But as the Elect close in, she faces an impossible choice—one that goes against everything the Dax have awakened in her, and whose consequences will determine the future of all living things.

Knee status.

Now that I am 7 weeks (53 days) post surgery, I am getting back into my normal routine. Coffee, writing, projects, working out, going for walks, reading, and watching scifi.

The very last thing for me to get back to normal is riding my bike. It has been recommended that I wait until the 100 day mark to risk the mountain bike. 47 days to go...

Back to work...

Movie: Disclosure Day

Today I am going to see Disclosure Day in the Theater.

I hope it's good. I love Emily Blunt.

Status

Sorry for the delays.

In two weeks I get my knee replaced. Pain and drugs to stop the pain have kept me from being productive. Hemingway said, "write drunk, edit sober." I tried. I seem to doze off.

Pain keeping me awake at night is the worse part.

Anyway. This summer you'll have something new... I hope.

Virtues of the Vicious

Elizabeth Cruze came to Earth for one reason: to buy weapons. She never counted on ending up in prison. Never fear, though, she's not planning on staying there long.

Special Investigator Neal Locke has made a career out of catching the most elusive and dangerous criminals. He's never failed to "get his man."

When Cruze escapes from prison, Locke is tasked to track her down. She should be easy to find...all he's got to do is follow the trail of bodies.

But Locke has been an investigator for a long time. It doesn't take him long to figure out that there's more going on than what he's been told...

Scifi Saturday: Bunker Project 12

I always love a good bad movie.Bunker Project 12 did not get a good rating, but it can still be inspirational for a scifi author with a Bunker idea!

New Monkey Wrench

Well it's time...

...for a new Monkey Wrench...

I am now scheduled for a knee replacement on March 31st, 2026. Joy.

I am trying to get this next novel to my editor by then but it is not looking likely.

I mean I could send it, but it is not up to snuff yet. Every time I go in and fix one thing I notice another thing, or have an idea for another thing. It also doesn't help that my knee won't allow me to be comfortable at my desk without changing positions every five minutes.

My wife is being extra super awesome taking care of me. She remembers how well I took care of her for her last three major repairs. (Hip, shoulder, other hip) I can still drive, because it's my left knee. But damn.

Good news is I met with my surgeon today. There will be robots involved. I was also fitted for a brace to get me to the 31st, and I got a handicapped parking permit.

--Now if only someone could go get the mail.
