RIP: My dog Whiskey
My sweet girl was suffering from escalating seizures. Yesterday, we had to make that decision we all dread. My heart is broken. I'll miss you. I'll never forget you.

Saturday Morning Coffee and Cartoons: Dexter's Lab
A fan theory:
I read a fan theory that suggested Dexter's parents and sister were all robots that he had built after one of his lab accidents had killed them. They were specifically designed to prevent Dexter from killing anyone else or from becoming a super villain.
I think that's true...

Quotes of the Week
- A good novel tells us the truth about its hero; but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author.
- G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936)- More quotations on: [Books]
- The author of the Iliad is either Homer or, if not Homer, somebody else of the same name.
- Aldous Huxley (1894 - 1963)
- Always acknowledge a fault. This will throw those in authority off their guard and give you an opportunity to commit more.
- Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)- More quotations on: [Humility]
- An author is a fool who, not content with boring those he lives with, insists on boring future generations.
- Charles de Montesquieu (1689 - 1755)- More quotations on: [Writing]
- Have you ever observed that we pay much more attention to a wise passage when it is quoted than when we read it in the original author?
- Philip G. Hamerton, "The Intellectual Life"- More quotations on: [Quotations]

Vacation reading!
I am putting together my vacation reading list. I need some recommendations! Here is what's in my pile already:

I read a great book.
But there are rules:
- He cannot look inside the box.
- He cannot ask questions.
- He cannot tell anyone.
- They must leave immediately.
- He must leave all trackable devices behind.
As these eccentric misfits hit the road, rumors spread on social media that the box is part of a carefully orchestrated terror attack intended to plunge the USA into civil war.
The truth promises to be even stranger, and may change how you see the world.
--Original plot, great characters, great commentary on today's world.

Now on SALE!!
She had no idea that the vampires of her horror dreams were real or that she was a Valkyrie, whatever the hell that was.
When she began subtly changing her dreams with minor changes in her waking life, she reluctantly began to believe she was a prophet of the pending apocalypse. She was a receptionist, a nobody trying to get by. Her dreams of red skies had turned to nightmares, and then to prophecy.
Dying night after night in her visions was easy.
Saving the world… not so much.

I'm Back!

| Whiskey |
I'm back from a week of travel with my wife and my dog Whiskey. My dog loves to travel.
It was an adventure to find dog-friendly hotels and restaurants. Hotels were easy, restaurants, not so much.
The trip started with some adventure. Lest than 10 miles from home we had a transmission problem with our truck. We had to move to plan B and transfer plans to our car. We still managed to hit the road only 10 hours late. I'm sure I Jinxed it by celebrating our departure an hour early.
Fun was had by all.

Spring Writer Retreat
The plan is to write the entire 1st draft of a new novel in 14 days. These are the key components to success:
- Already have a verbose outline (16 pages)
- Detailed character sheets, including actor photos that would play each primary and secondary part.
- Food and drink for all 14 days.
- No Distractions.(email, FB, X, news, TV, nothin)
- Take my own comfy office chair.
- Write 8 to 10 hours each day.
- Morning and Afternoon walks.
- Average 6,000 to 10,000 words a day.
- Hammer through the entire 1st draft with no self-editing.
- Document my daily word count.
- Share that word count daily with people who will keep me accountable.
- No excuses, no distractions, no escape...
