Ignore all hatred and criticism. Live for what you create, and die protecting it.
The secret of getting ahead is getting started.
Let me live, love and say it well in good sentences.
Real writers are those who want to write, need to write, have to write.
—Robert Penn Warren
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
I don't believe in writer's block or waiting for inspiration. If you're a writer, you sit down and write.
Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself.
Nothing you write, if you hope to be any good, will ever come out as you first hoped.
If you're thinking of an idea in the shower or while you're walking your dog, and if it still sticks the next day there’s probably something to it.

The worst enemy of creativity is self-doubt.
I do not write with ease, nor am I ever please with anything I write. And so I rewrite.
A blank piece of paper is God’s way of telling us how hard it to be God.
Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.
—Henry Ward Beecher
Writing a book is like telling a joke and having to wait two years to know whether or not it was funny.
—Alain de Botton
Write while the heat is in you. The writer who postpones the recording of his thoughts uses an iron which has cooled to burn a hole with.
—Henry David Thoreau
One day I will find the right words and they will be simple.
Write one good clean sentence and put a period at the end of it. Then write another one.
Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Books are no more threatened by Kindle than stairs by elevators.

It has been an excellent four years with a lot of change. This was the first comic I published. Fun stuff.
The biggest change between then and now was quitting my day job and becoming a full-time author. That was over a year ago now. Of late, we have sold the house and will be moving to a sweet new home.
Life is good.

-- Douglas Adams
Whatever you’re meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible.
I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.
f you can tell stories, create characters, devise incidents, and have sincerity and passion, it doesn't matter a damn how you write.
—W. Somerset Maugham
Remember to recognize the small successes that you will have. Don't let the brightness of that big goal blind you to what happens on the way toward the goal. Meet one wave at a time and enjoy what progress you make.
No one has ever written a romance novel better than we live it.
Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.
Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.
Substitute "damn" every time you're inclined to write 'very;' your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be.
Writing is an occupation in which you have to keep proving your talent to those who have none.
It is by siting down to write every morning that one becomes a writer.
